Purpose
According to Article II of the Constitution of the Leyden Council...
"The reasons for and objectives of this organization shall be as follows:
To represent the faculty, the Paraprofessionals and School-Related (PSRP) staff, and all persons eligible for representation in all matters of a contractual nature with the Board of Education of District 212, with the administration, or with any representation of the administration.
To represent the faculty, PSRP staff, and all persons eligible for representation in grievance matters with the Board of Education of District 212, with the administration, or with any representative of the administration.
To improve education conditions so that faculty and PSRP staff may render professional service in a manner that will provide maximum benefits to students, teachers, PSRP staff, schools, and community.
To provide the opportunity for faculty and PSRP personnel to have a voice in educational matters that relate to the welfare of the students, teachers, and/or PSRP staff.
To participate in the existing Defense Fund and, subject to the approval of Local 571, to use such funds for legal services in cases in which legal counsel is required."
