The Leyden Council, Local 571 of the American Federation of Teachers was certified by an election held on March 17, 1967.

Leyden Council affiliations include the West Suburban Teachers Union-Local 571, the Illinois Federation of Teachers (IFT), the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), Chicago Federation of Labor (CFL), North Central Illinois Labor Council, the Illinois American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (IL AFL-CIO), the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO).
